Cambria Landing Inn
Cambria Landing Inn

We stayed in the Cambria Landing Inn. It is directly across the road from the seaside. There is another hotel with a similar name so bring a print out of your reservation if you have one. The rooms are clean, very basic, early 90s hotel style with an LCD upgrade. The great thing here is that they give you complimentary bottle of Champaign, red or white wine, or Martineli's sparkling cider and a continental breakfast delivered to your room! They don't take American Express, total charge was $109. A good value. If you want to do a tour of Hearst Castle and would like to spend the night nearby, then your best choices are the small, privately owned inns and hotels right next to the beach in Cambria or San Simeon. The sand is darkly colored and there are few days without either wind, fog, rough seas, chilly air or a combination of these, but it has a rough beauty that is appealing.
